No. You can take the course if you are already using one, are considering medically supervised treatment, or simply want to understand how these medications affect weight loss and appetite.

The lessons on protein, body composition and resistance training are also relevant to weight loss without medication.

How much muscle do people lose on GLP-1 medications?

Body-composition studies have found that lean tissue accounts for part of the weight lost during treatment with semaglutide and tirzepatide, but estimates vary considerably between studies and individuals.

Lean mass is also not the same thing as skeletal muscle. Measurements can include body water and other nonfat tissues. The course explains those distinctions and shows how resistance training and appropriate protein intake may support muscle, strength and physical function during weight loss. Individual results cannot be guaranteed.

I have never exercised. Is the strength-training plan doable?

Yes. The plan assumes you are starting with no resistance-training experience. It introduces a small number of movement patterns you can practice with your body weight, an inexpensive resistance band or basic gym equipment.

Two appropriately designed sessions per week can provide a meaningful starting point, especially for someone who has not previously been strength training.

If you have an injury, significant mobility limitation or medical condition that affects exercise, ask a qualified healthcare or rehabilitation professional what is appropriate for you.

Is resistance training useful for weight loss?

Resistance training may not always produce a large immediate change on the scale, but it can support strength, physical function and lean-tissue preservation while you lose weight.

That makes strength training an important complement to nutrition, daily activity and medically supervised GLP-1 treatment. The course shows beginners how to get started without relying on complicated routines.

How much protein do I need during weight loss?

The course explains how protein targets are commonly expressed relative to body weight, why needs can differ during a calorie deficit, and how to distribute protein across the day.

It also provides practical strategies for low-appetite days. Individual needs vary, especially for people with kidney disease, digestive conditions or other medical concerns. Ask your clinician or a registered dietitian to confirm what is appropriate for you.

What happens if I stop taking a GLP-1 medication?

Clinical trials of semaglutide and tirzepatide have found that substantial weight regain is common after treatment is discontinued. That does not mean every person will have the same experience, but it does show why obesity is often treated as a chronic condition.

The course explains how exercise, protein, sleep and daily routines can support health and physical function, but those habits do not replace medical care. Any treatment change should be planned with your clinician.

What are the activities about?

The first activity uses Maria, a fictional person taking a GLP-1 medication. You apply what you learned to her protein, training and long-term planning decisions and can receive structured feedback from an AI assistant.

The second activity shows you how to investigate GLP-1 and body-composition research, assess sources and recognize claims that go beyond the available evidence.

Do I need to pay for an AI tool?

Usually not. The optional activities work with free versions of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Qwen. Some advanced research features may require payment, but they are not required to complete the core course.

Is my private information safe in the AI activities?
